Monty

I've mentioned our rabbits many times on this blog but I did an actual post all about them just over a year ago, Rabbit Ramblings. It tells of how these beautiful boys came to live with us. Sammy is Eleanor's rabbit and Monty, Daniel's.

We've all been very upset this weekend as Monty sadly died on Saturday. Even Archie has been very subdued, I think he's picked up on our sadness.

He was the most nosey, mischievous bunny and he will be greatly missed.

RIP beautiful boy.

  1. Oh Jo. What a beautiful boy he was. It's only been a few days since Jessie left us but Things are slowly starting to settle down. Look after yourself and give Archie lots of cuddles. Many hugs x Jane

  6. A family pet is just that, part of the family. When they pass away we miss them........their spirit, their nature, their charm.
I have loved and lost many animals in my lifetime, it does not get easier.
You and I know this time will pass and you will look back on Monty's life and remember with fondness the joy he brought you all.

    RIP Monty xxxx

    1. It doesn't get any easier at all. I know people who won't have pets because of the upset when they pass away, but they're denying themselves all the joy and pleasure a pet provides. Monty has been a much loved member of the family and though we're all so upset at the moment, I know we'll remember all the wonderful things about him with a smile once the sadness has passed. Thank you.

    2. Dear Jo, losing pets is such a sad thing . Here in Queensland, Australia we cannot keep rabbits . In other states of Australia it is legal . I have always wanted to have a rabbit as a pet. Monty looked like a beautiful boy. So sorry for your loss.

    3. I didn't realise that rabbits weren't allowed to be kept as pets in Queensland. They do make lovely pets, they're so gentle and they have their own little personalities. Monty was a beautiful bunny. Thank you.

  11. Oh, so sorry to hear that! Pets can become very much part of the family and I am sure you will miss him a lot. This is one of the reasons why we no longer have any pets - we always used to have cats, but the grief of losing them was too much. At least you have some lovely photos to remember Monty by.

    1. Monty didn't live with Sammy, they didn't get on even though we'd had them neutered in the hope that they would live together, so losing him won't be so traumatic for Sammy.

  13. I'm so sorry Jo, it's so sad when the little creatures leave us isn't it. They find their way right into our hearts. He was a really beautiful rabbit, and he sounds like quite a character, I know he'll be very missed. I think he was lucky to have you all. CJ xx

    1. He was very cute. Pet rabbits are fine but you don't want the wild sort in your garden, they'd eat all your plants.

  15. Our family had a wonderful rabbit called Honey she used to ramble about our garden and her favourite place was near to the shed. When she died we laid her to rest in her most favourite place . Fond memories but it was tough for all the family especially the children when she went.

The lovely memories are still there all these years on.

Thanks for sharing your pictures and your thoughts.

    All the best Jan

    1. Thank you. I didn't think that animals which live outside would grab my heart as much as say a dog or a cat who are indoors with their family, but they do. It's amazing how they all have their own personalities, Monty was so different to Sammy, each lovely in their own way. Monty was quite a character and I shall miss him coming to the front of his hutch to greet me as I step through the door on a morning, waiting to be let out. He was such a cheeky bunny.

I must say though that you have provided that adorable guy with the best home in the world, if only all rabbit owners were like you!! Huge hugs. Monty will always be in your heart and you will always have those memories.xxx
