Garden Visiting In June - Part Two

This post follows on from Part One of our visit to Golden Acre Park's gardens. It was rather a long post, so rather than squeeze in any more photos, I thought I'd group together the photos I took of some of the beautiful flowers we saw and make another post. I hope you enjoy them.

I can thoroughly recommend a day out to Golden Acre Park if you're in the area. As well as the gardens, there's the beautiful park with a lakeside walk and wildflower meadow. There's woodland and a fabulous tea room. Across the road from the park are two nature reserves. Dogs are allowed in the gardens providing they're kept on a lead.

    1. That green roof is fabulous, isn't it? The gardens do cover a large area, I'm sure we must have missed things but that just gives us a reason to return, sooner rather than later I think.

    1. You must let me know what you think. The parkland is definitely worth walking round too.

  3. Beautiful flowers Jo! Especially those sort of two tone roses (there is probably a name for them!), the eryngiums are lovely as well. xx

    1. I can't make up my mind about the rose, I'm not sure if I like the two tone effect or not. I think my favourites are the white astrantias but I like the eryngiums too.

    1. These are just a very small selection of the beautiful blooms on display. I think the poppy with the seed heads around it is quite nice but my favourite is the white astrantia. I really must get one for my garden.

    2. It is Jo and really easy to take cuttings which is why we have two on our plot and we have one in the garden and have given quite a few away!

    3. I should think you'd need plenty of space to grow it, this one was quite a size.

    4. You can cut it hard back

    5. That should restrict its size somewhat.

  7. You are certainly spoilt for choice in your part of the world when it comes to garden visits Jo. I've not heard of Golden Acre Park before. It looks as if there was plenty of interest there.

    1. We are spoilt for choice. Golden Acre Park is a lovely place, even without taking the gardens in to consideration. We do visit fairly often but we should make an extra effort to see the gardens at different stages throughout the year.

  8. It is Sambuscus nigra. I've seen it on a lot of blogs lately and I'd love to have one. Wish I had the space.
You've got so many of my favourites in this post Jo.

    1. You'd definitely need some space to grow it, this was quite a large specimen. There were some beautiful plants in the gardens, this is only a small selection.

  9. Golden Acre Park has such an inviting name! Love the pink peonies especially the one with the open cup and the rose (Rosa Mundi?). I've have seen one at our local nursery that's on my wish list.

    1. It's a beautiful name for a beautiful park. I loved the open cupped peony too, but the astrantias are my favourites. I knew I had the name of that rose tucked away somewhere, I think it is Mundi, though it wasn't labelled so I can't be sure.
