An Unusual Visitor

We recently had an unusual visitor to the garden, a little Coal Tit. I noticed him eating from the feeder with the sparrows so I snapped him through the window. We don't often get Coal Tits in the garden, so it's always nice when one does visit.

Thank you to everyone who entered my little giveaway to win a RHS diary. A draw was made this morning, and the name pulled out of the hat was A Whole Plot OF Love. Congratulations, and if you'd like to email me your address, I'll get the diary in the post so that it, hopefully, arrives in time for the new year.

I wish everyone who pops by my blog a very merry Christmas.

  1. Funnily enough we get Coal Tits quite often, but the Greenfinch which is also in your picture is for us only an occasional visitor. Keep your eyes peeled for Blackcaps: the RSPB are trying to do a survey of them because their numbers are declining rapidly. They want people to report any sightings.
The only bird I have my eyes on at present is one that is about to have a close encounter with some sage-and-onion substance! Happy Christmas, Jo. Look forward to comparing notes with you again next year.

  6. Wow thanks, I only read the top bit at first & didn't realise I had won. Thank you I'm thrilled, my original reply was meant to say we get the odd coal tit but a few greenfiches. So excited, I will email my address over now. Greedy begger that I am. Merry Christmas.

  8. Funnily enough, we got our first Coal Tit visitors to the bird feeder today as well, along with something ever more special in suburban London - a Nuthatch.

We 've been getting Blackcaps at the feeder for the past few weeks, and if the weather turns cold again, I should imagine a Goldcrest of two will show up.

  11. Merry Christmas to you and your Family JO. We often have a variety of tits visit the feeders but of late the rain has been so heavy the birds haven't been too adventurous.

  15. Hoping you had a great Christmas Jo. We get coal tits in the garden but usually they are just so fast and getting a photo is so difficult. You did well.
