Book Giveaway

I've recently read Digger's Diary - Tales From The Allotment by Victor Osborne and really enjoyed it, so I thought I would offer it as a giveaway prize on my blog.

The blurb can tell you what the book is about much better than I'm able.

In a wild landscape of unkempt vegetation and higgledy-piggledy sheds, criss-crossed by tiny paths like secret jungle tracks, lies Victor Osborne's inner-city allotment. Here, along with fellow 'diggers' like the Ace Cultivator, the Birdman and even the Hon.Sec. himself, he grows everything from Brussels sprouts to sweet peas, not to mention greengages and tayberries. In this fascinating and charming chronicle of a year in the life of his own patch, he shares with us the highs and lows of a multi-ethnic gardening community in which status is determined not by your income but by the standard of your produce (especially at the Annual Show), and in which a night's unseasonal frost can ruin everything...

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning the book, please leave a comment on this post. The giveaway will run until 14th of December after which time a winner will be chosen at random. I'm happy to post worldwide.

I also have a giveaway running on my Through The Keyhole blog so pop over there to be in with a chance of winning.

Good Luck.

  5. I'm a hoarder like BW - you should see how many paperbacks I have. I wait 'til I've forgotten the story and read then again. I suppose I recycle them!

Must admit the blurb makes Digger sound like someone I've come across before!

  8. I also have the book and have read it several times, it's perfect winter reading, whilst waiting for the season to begin. No need to enter me for the draw but just wanted to say this will be a lovely prize for someone!

  9. That looks like a perfect book to sofa fly with, along with a cup of tea and a couple of biscuits!
By the way this reminds me that I never did do the same with the Terry Walton book which I recently found tucked away so I will do that in the New Year. Flighty xx

  13. I've not heard of this book and its appealing to me for a number of reasons, but esp. the aspect of multi-ethnic gardening community. Thank you for hosting.

  14. Jo this is such a lovely idea, passing on a book that you've especially enjoyed! And perfect timing as well when we've all got a bit more time to read rather than garden. Although I have far too many gardening books already, I'd like to read this, especially as the author writes about the community around him.

  18. I love the artwork! What a lovely idea, a book give away. I am in Canada so perhaps a bit too far to post. Books that chronicle a year in a garden gives such great advice and you learn so much from the author. his or her own perspective.

  19. You can't have too many gardening books in my opinion and this one sounds like a good read.
