Archie had to make do with a quick trip in the garden this morning and he'll get the same this afternoon. Mick will take him for a good walk when he gets in from work to make up for it, though I doubt he'll mind as he doesn't like going out in the snow either.

The spring bulbs which I planted in containers are managing to poke through the snow. It seems that nothing holds them back once they've made up their mind to grow.

It's still snowing now, we're forecast light snow all day. I hope it doesn't hang around.
We have bulbs growing here, but no snow. Our Magnolia tree has buds as well, a bit early. Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be long before all those buds start to burst open, thinking about that keeps me going through winter. Thank you, my leg feels much better than it did yesterday but is still rather sore.
DeleteSnowing in Ossett too. It's wet snow so I'm hoping it wont be around too long. Tivvy doesn't like walks in the snow either so Archie isn't on his own. Hope your leg improves soon.
ReplyDeleteOurs hasn't started to melt yet and it's still coming down but it's very light so it isn't really being added to. The snow tends to stick to Archie's coat so he ends up coming home with snowballs attached to him. Thank you, I think there must be a bit of bruising inside.
DeleteWe got snow at the weekend which is just about gone now. It wasn't enough to stop us getting out and about though we did see a few others who'd had accidents. I don't mind the snow but I hate it to be icy. Well, I don't like snow if I have to drive in it. Too scary!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that one. I'm not very keen on driving when the conditions are good so it's a definite no no when there's snow on the ground.
DeleteWe've had another lot of snow that's mounting up again. It's very difficult to get out and drive in our hilly area especially on our no through road where we live as the ice and snow settles and freezes because it doesn't get churned up by traffic. Daughter has another sick note as she can't lift anything, walk or sit comfortably and, of course, can't drive or go to work after her serious fall. Do take care and hope you're soon recovered from your fall on the ice. Also hope your daughter is coping with her exams.

I live on a cul de sac and the road doesn't get the sun shining on it so it takes ages to melt, in fact, the small amount of traffic we get tends to compact the snow so it turns to ice. Your daughter's accident shows just how dangerous the conditions can be. Thank you, I'm just glad I didn't do any serious damage to myself, there's nothing to actually see on my leg so I think it must be bruised inside. Eleanor's finished her exams now, she's just waiting for the results. They were only mocks though whereas Daniel's just taken some exams which count towards his degree. They usually keep them waiting for weeks before they get their results.
DeleteYou're right. Snow is OK if you want to go skiing, or just to look at it, but it can also be a big nuisance. Here in Hampshire we have avoided it so far.

Thank you. My leg is much better than it was yesterday so I'm hopeful that it's on the mend now. I hope you manage to avoid the show, it's starting to fall a little heavier again here but I'm hoping it isn't going to last.

DeleteSorry to hear that you've taken a tumble Jo and hope that your leg soon heals. It's beautiful to look at but can be lethal if you have to venture anywhere. None here but a friend less than a couple of miles away reported snow settling on the ground last night.

I was going to wear my walking boots but to be honest, they don't have a very good grip so I wore my regular boots which usually have a better grip, not in this case though. It's been snowing here all day but it's only been light, it hasn't added anything to what we woke up to. The road had turned slightly mushy now so I'm hoping to find it gone when I wake up in the morning.

Thank you, I'm sure my leg will be fine. My pride was dented more than my body but I don't think anyone saw me fall so that's one good thing, I didn't go down gracefully. Archie would quite happily snooze all day long, we do have to force him to go out sometimes, he's such a lazy dog.

It's still hanging around today but we haven't had any more to add to it, thank goodness. There were some school closures here in West Yorkshire but not in our neck of the woods. Thank you, my leg feels much better today.

Thank you, the leg is feeling much better but the snow is still here. There were some schools closed yesterday but none near me so Eleanor had to go in. I know what you mean about the world sounding different, I think people act differently when there's snow on the ground too, neighbours pitching in to clear driveways and people who wouldn't normally talk stopping in their tracks to pass the time of day. Yes, roll on spring.

DeleteOh Brrrrrrr! My son is on his way back up to Leeds tomorrow morning so I'll be able to warn him about the weather. I'm glad to read that your leg is less painful, Jo - I hate that feeling of not being able to plant my feet firmly on the ground. So far only a short flurry of snow last weekend and a -3 night ahead of us but I'm hoping that we avoid snow here as I've too much outside work to do! I hope it clears very soon for you, not least because then Archie can resume his long walks and I needn't worry about my son cycling in bad weather! C xx
