Sammy

It's been a very sad week here, Eleanor's bunny, Sammy, died on Monday.

I've often mentioned both Sammy and his brother, Monty, who died back in February, on the blog. I even went so far as to grow them their own greens which they both enjoyed eating.

Sammy was such a beautiful boy, very soft and gentle. He wasn't quite so inquisitive and mischievous as Monty was but he did love to hop around the garden and have a drink from the bird bath.

RIP beautiful boy.

  2. I'm so sorry Jo. I felt I knew Sammy and Monty from your blog and I feel sad too. I was actually thinking of them when I wrote about our own family pets on my last post and how much we love them and miss them when they're no longer with us. Sending love and hugs to you and Eleanor across the miles.

    1. Thank you. The loss we feel when we lose a beloved pet is the downside of having animals, but then if we allowed it to stop us having pets we'd be missing out on so much.

  12. So sorry to read that Sammy has passed away......we become so attached to our pets, members of the family.
He looks a sweet boy.........but what a good home he had. Monty and Sammy are the lucky ones....many animals are neglected.

    Thinking of you...........know it hurts.

    1. Thank you. I hope they both enjoyed living with us, I know that rabbits in particular are often neglected, put in outside hutches and forgotten about, it's so sad. We have lots of happy memories of them so they'll be remembered with a smile.

  13. I'm sorry to read this post Jo. The loss of family pets is such a wretched event but no doubt you will have some fond memories to cheer you. Sammy was a lucky bunny to have you to love him and offer him such a five star hotel to live in ((())) xxx

    1. Thank you. I think it's these times when you always question if you should have pets or not, is it worth it. Of course, the answer is yes, it's a horrible time when you lose a pet but the joy they bring to the family far outweighs the grief you feel when they die. We've got lots of lovely memories of both Sammy and Monty and they'll always be remembered.

  14. Awwwww....so sorry to hear about the loss of Sammy Jo, a sweet little bunny who had the best possible life. It's always so hard to bear when a beloved little friend passes, but I have to say that your rabbits had such a loving home, if only they all did! It's so hard parting with them though isn't it......huge hugs!xxxxxxx
