After The Rain

We haven't had much rain this month but I have managed to capture a few flowers after they've been doused by the wet stuff at various times.

I'm sure they're much happier when they're watered by nature rather than a watering can.

    1. I think that's the best time to get rain, it doesn't spoil any plans for the day but everything gets a good soaking.

  2. Gorgeous pictures of the flowers. Yes, natural watering is much better - and we're getting plenty of it here.

    1. Some plants, such as blueberries, definitely prefer rain water. We need some more rain, the ground is very dry.

  3. Nice photos. Round my way we have also had precious little rain in the last few months. I have had to use the hosepipe many times. Wind is never in short supply though - it always seems to be blowing a gale!

    1. It's been exactly the same here, in fact, we had some very gusty wind yesterday. The hosepipe and watering cans have been used right through the gardening season so far.

  4. Lovely pictures, your flowers seem to be far ahead of ours, my rudbeckias' are only just showing buds.

    1. Most things have already flowered but I'm still waiting on my new rudbeckia, and my Bishop of Llandaff dahlia.

    1. I've gone for some quite bright flowers this year, along with some more subdued ones. I do like a mixture.

  6. Your flowers are very pretty and colourful. We had some rain in the night, very welcome even though I watered the veggies last night

    1. It's typical, we seem to get rain just when I've done some watering too. I doubt the veggies will mind though.

    1. They do. I think a good watering by rainfall revitalises the plants.

    1. I do too. It shows another dimension to the flowers somehow.

  9. Professional garden photographers have a spray bottle to hand apparently, to create just that effect.

    1. Another windy day today, it never seems to let up. I'm sure it's windier this year than it usually is.

    2. A cane supporting one of my tomato plants snapped yesterday in the wind. Luckily, the plant wasn't damaged but the cane had to be changed pretty quickly.

  11. I laughed a hollow laugh when I read the first words of your post. We have had nothing but rain. Think the Open golf rained off at St Andrews....And lovely summer temps of 15 degrees. But I do agree that your flowers look lovely in the rain. What is the dahlia in your first photo?

    1. We could definitely do with some of your rain here, but only during the night. I like having fine days but the plants do suffer. The dahlia in the first photo is Procyon, a £1 bargain from Wilkinsons.

    1. They've been having to make do with the watering can for most of the time, it makes a change for them to have a drink of rainwater.

    1. We do need rain, especially us gardeners, however, I hope there isn't much during the day during the next fortnight whilst I'm away on holiday. Rainfall at night would be good.
