A Frog He Would A Wooing Go

There was a bit of lovemaking going on today on my patio.

The photos are a bit blurry, I'm always too nervous to get very close to frogs in case they hop at me.

I've never had frogspawn in my little pond before, perhaps this could be the year.

    1. Yes indeed. They'd disappeared when I went out ten minutes later so I must have disturbed them.

  3. Indeed, very happy frogs. Looks like this will be the year for frogspawn in your pond.

    1. I do hope so. We had loads of tiny little frogs in the garden last year, Mick had to be extra careful whenever he mowed the lawn as they'd be hopping all over the place, so it would be nice if we had some of them lay their spawn in the pond.

  4. Oh you are so lucky.. I miss having frogs and toads in our pond. We used to get loads but they've all disappeared, whether it was disease I don't know..haven't had any for about 3 years now :o( but every year I hope they will return... but nothing yet :o(

    1. We see quite a few frogs in the pond and in the garden too, but I've never had any frogspawn yet. The pond is really tiny though so I don't know if it's too small. It would be lovely to have some and watch it develop though.

  5. You might get more than you bargained for there! We seem to find plenty of frogs in the front garden than the back where the pond is. So I am putting a pond in the front too, I want some frogspawn!

    1. I know. There were loads of frogs in the garden last summer even though we hadn't had any frogspawn in the pond.

  7. Frogs are another of the things that I am terrified of - along with spiders and other insects! xx

    1. I can't say that I'm particularly fond of them either, they make me nervous when they jump, but they're good at keeping the slug population down so I'm happy to have them in the garden.

  8. No frogs here yet. I love them and often have to pick them up and transport them around the plot if we are mowing or strumming grass paths

    1. There's no way I would pick them up, yuck, It's just as well that the rest of the family don't mind moving them out of my way for me.

    2. I once had to rescue a neighbour who had been 'trapped' in her greenhouse by a frog!

    3. Correction - we have spawn!

    4. I'm not quite that bad with frogs. If it were a cockroach though, you'd hear me scream in Ossett.

    5. Brilliant news. No spawn yet here. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

  9. They do look a bit startled.. obviously didn't think the paparazzi would track them down in the corner of the patio. And now they're on the internet!

    1. Cute little bunnies are more cuddly than frogs. I really hope I get some frogspawn this year, time will tell.

  11. Oh please... I always avoid to meet frogs! I'm affraid... :(

    1. They're certainly not the cuddliest of creatures, and they hop quite high too. I can't say that I'm all that fond of them, but they're goodies in my garden.

    1. These are the first I've seen this year. Let's hope there's lots more about soon to get rid of all the slugs.

  13. It's hard to believe the frogs will survive our big freeze, but before long we will be serenaded by their mating songs. We always get lots of eggs -- many of which are eaten by the fish. But still lots of baby frogs and toads. Can't wait! P. x

    1. It is hard to believe how frogs survive in such extreme temperatures. Mick heard the frog's mating songs a few days ago, it looks like they paid off.

  14. They're 'at it' in my pond too today - I think you're definitely going to get spawn this year :-)

    1. I really hope so. My pond is tiny though so they may go elsewhere. It's nice to know that they're about in the garden though, I see them often in the little pond but they haven't chosen to have their babies here yet.

    1. Plenty of frogs but still no spawn. I think my little pond might be too small for them.
