It's four years today since I wrote my first post on this blog, so it's a little over four years since I took on my allotment. I'm using a four year crop rotation system on the plot, so this will be the last year of that rotation and I'll be right back to the start again next year.
It's become a custom for me to host a giveaway on my blog anniversaries, and this time I'm offering a set of Val Bourne's Ten Minute Gardener's Growing Diaries. There's three different guides, vegetables, fruit and flowers. I have these books myself and I find them very useful. They're great for dipping in and out of, and they provide lots of helpful hints and tips. It's especially helpful that they're split in to months, so you know what you should be doing when.
If you'd like to be in with a chance of winning the set of three books, just leave a comment on this post by midnight on Sunday the 7th of April, and I shall pick a winner at random next week.
Unfortunately, there's only one prize, but I'd like to thank each and every one of my readers and followers for visiting my blog and leaving comments, I'm still always thrilled when a comment is left for me to read. I hope you enjoy what you read here and that you'll continue to visit my blog in the future.
It's been a much nicer Easter, weather wise, than I was expecting, though no gardening has been done yet. I've been a little busy with other things over the last few days, but I'm hoping to get some seeds sown later on today.

So are you doing a four year rotation of blog posts too. It would solve the lack of gardening material problem.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary - maybe we should invent a blog birthday card.
I think blog posts do inevitably go over old material as the gardening year tends to follow a pattern too. Thank you. I think a blog birthday card would be well used.
DeleteHappy Blog Anniversary, Jo! Our Easter weather has been pretty dire (one sunny day, but still bitterly cold), so very little outdoor gardening has taken place here. The thought of acquiring a polytunnel is looking more and more attractive as the days go by!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We've had a bit of sun over the weekend, which seems to have lifted the temperature a little, but it's still been very cold when the sun's disappeared. If only we had the space for a polytunnel, I don't think we'd mind the bad weather quite so much.
DeleteDo you know that until I read your post I had completely forgotten that its my blog anniversary today too, although mine is only two years old. Congratulations and I hope i'll be reading yours for at least another 4.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and happy blog anniversary to you too.
DeleteHappy blogiversary! I've always enjoyed reading your posts and look forward to many more.
ReplyDeleteI already have these books so please exclude me from the draw.
Flighty xx
Thank you. I hope I can carry on blogging for another four years.
DeleteHappy Blog Birthday! My blog was 4 last week too, but I missed it! Must try harder to remember next year :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, and happy blog birthday to you too. We started blogging around the same time then.
DeleteOh many congratulations on your fourth blog anniversary Jo and here's to many more. Somebody is going to receive a most informative set of books - please do not enter me as I already have them :) Here it is dry but cloudy today with a bitter wind. Too cold to get me outside but I've done a bit in the greenhouse. Hope that you have managed to get to grips with the seed sowing.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's much cooler today than it's been over the last couple of days, but I managed a little seed sowing.
DeleteOoo the books sound lovely - pease count me in. Eleanor xx
ReplyDeleteI'll add your name to the draw. I've enjoyed reading my copies of these books so I hope whoever wins them enjoys them too.
DeleteHappy anniversary! Does it feel like 4 years of blogging or has it flown by? I've only been doing mine since last October/November and 4 years seems such a long time but then the last 5 months I've been blogging has flown by! I'd absolutely LOVE to be entered into your competition. I think those diaries look gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. It doesn't feel like four years, I had to go back and check. I enjoy writing my blog though, and it helps me to remember dates and information too.
DeleteFour years eh! Well done for keeping up your interesting blog posts. Looking forward to many more.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Hopefully, I can keep going for another four, we'll see.
DeleteWell done you! I've got a new allotment this year, so I'm looking forward to the weather perking up so I can start planting. Thank you for the effort you put into your blog, I love reading it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I think we're all keeping our fingers crossed that we get some decent weather this year after the weather we've experienced for the last couple of years. Good luck with your new allotment, I hope everything grows well for you.
DeleteAn excellent achievement, Jo! They do say that if you can make it through the first year of blogging that you're less likely to give up - I certainly find it hard going to find the time and to keep up with everyone else's blogs so I'm in awe of what you've achieved, and the network of friends you've created. Well done! I look forward to reading many more of your posts in the future. Caro xx
ReplyDeleteI think it would have been harder to keep it going had I still been working, but now that I'm at home full time, I manage to find the time to keep up with it. It's nice to follow other people's blogs too and keep up with what they're up to.
DeleteCongratulations, Jo, on reaching your four-year milestone! I'm happy to hear your weather is improving. It's still extremely cold here and I have spring fever looking at the blooms on other garden blogs. I am definitely starting some seeds indoors this week. Here's to another four years!! P. x
ReplyDeleteThank you. The weather has been much more spring like over the last few days, but it's still very cold.
DeleteHappy Blog anniversary ;0)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog.
I've just reset up my blog after nearly a years absence .Reading blogs like yours has inspired me to start blogging again!
Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment. I'm pleased to hear that you've returned to blogging, I shall pop over to visit you shortly.
DeleteWell done Jo,I suppose it's like everything else, you just wonder where the time has gone, love reading your posts,so here's to many more
ReplyDeleteIt certainly doesn't feel like it's been four years since I started the blog. I think you just get in to the habit of writing posts and the time slips past before you know it.
DeleteHappy Anniversary, I know I am a couple of days late but am catching up on blog reading! I really enjoy your blog and love it when I see new posts pop up on my blog reader. Thank you for the time you have kept me amused xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. Life sometimes gets in the way of blogging, and it's hard to catch up with all the missed posts.
DeleteCongratulations on four years of blogging, Jo! It's almost a year since I started my blog, although I had another which I deleted and now regret. I'm so glad I've still kept in touch with old friends and now have new friends such as yourself with the same interests. Hope there will many more exchanges of news and ideas in the future. Happy blogging, gardening and life in general!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The thing with blogging is that you tend to make friends with people who have similar interests to yourself, which is really nice. None of my friends are gardeners so it's nice to talk to like minded people on the blog.
DeleteCongratulations on your 4 year anniversary. Easter's weather was much better than I thought as well and I managed to get some seed sowing done squeezed in between lots of decorating the house. Milder weather is on the way next week with rain so I'm trying to frantically get plants moved and divided in the garden but the ground is too wet. Val Bourne's books are brilliant and will make a perfect gift for the winner. :) p.s I've got the books so don't include me in the draw.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We've got sunshine here today, I can't believe how many days we've had without rain, it seems to be unheard of these days that we don't get any rain. It sounds like you were busy over Easter. I didn't get much gardening done, just a few seeds sown and that was it.
DeleteWell that's WONDERFUL, congratulations. It's all about fours for you! I would love to be in the draw for the dairy!
ReplyDeleteHere's to the next four years! p.s...is there any way I can subscribe as I don't like missing your posts.xxxxx
Thank you. I hope I can think of enough things to write about to last another four years. I'm not sure about subscribing, I'm not very technically minded so I'll have to look in to it.
DeleteI've never seen these books before Jo but the illustrations on the covers are lovely and the contents must good for you to recommend them. Count me in for your draw :)
ReplyDeleteI know quite a few people have them and enjoy them. I hope whoever wins the giveaway will enjoy them too.
DeleteCongratulations! I would feel so lcky to win the prize... could do with a bit of luck! x
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and entering my giveaway. They're great little books, I'm sure whoever wins the giveaway will find them useful.
