I love the plant and want even more in our garden since the bees are still going mad for the ones we have. For that reason I haven't cropped mine yet to make this year's lavender bags. There are so many varieties and colours now aren't there - but I prefer the good old-fashioned dark purple. We once stayed in a gite in southern France set it lavender growing area, The fields were in full flower and the lavender was being cut using special machines. Tractor loads of lavender were constantly being driven to the distillery from which lavender scent was being pumped out.
